With the extensive application of digital design and manufacturing technology,especially the growing popularity of computer technology, Model Based Definition(MBD) of digital design and manufacturing technology has become the developmenttrend of the manufacturing information. As a new product definition method, it hasincomparable superiority on reducing product costs, improving productivity and so on.But there are still some problems in enterprise the application of MBD technology atpresent, unable to establish an effective MBD models is the primary problem.In this paper, the system of aiding to design MBD model is developed throughin-depth study of the organizational structure of MBD model and the expression of non-geometric information by using Visual C++6.0and UG/Open API secondarydevelopment tools. The main contents can be described as follows:(1) The organizational structure of parts MBD mode is analyzed and the expressionof non-geometric information is studied. It provided theories for the development ofsystems.(2) A module that can help user manage the attribute information of design modelsis developed, dimension tolerance in line with national standards is created, anddimensions and geometric tolerances information is automatically obtained.(3) The "matrix-details" feature is used to describe part shape characteristics andcommon feature of type is summarized, then, the principle of rough model quicklybeing generated is studied, finally, a module that can lead to rapidly generate roughmodel is developed.(4) The method to create process models is proposed and UG/Open API secondarydevelopment tools to develop a module that can classify and organize processinformation is used; a module that can make process models change with processparameters to achieve parameter variations is developed; a module that can extractprocess information from process models to generate machining sequence cards is developed, in which U3D format process model is inserted. It enables technology staffcan easily view the three-dimensional process; developed process information storageand retrieval module to read and write process data with using ADO database accesstechnology.
