Sales data shows unsatisfactory performance of domestic brands of skid steer loaderin the competition for market share. The fundamental reason is that domestic brands stillhave a gap against foreign competitors in terms of product performance. In the context ofcore components dependent on imports, which is difficult to break through in short term,the research for overall performance of the core systems is an effective way to improve theperformance of domestic products. Travel system is one of the core systems of skid steerloader, whose performance directly relates to the overall driving and steering performance.Meanwhile, the research for the turning way called skid steering, has currently focused ontracked vehicles such as tank and lunar rover. However, the related research for theengineering vehicle with pneumatic tire, skid steer loader as the representative,is quitelacking, which deserves further theoretical study. Therefore, to carry out research fortravel system of skid steer loader has practical and theoretical significance. Powercharacteristics is to study hydraulic system from the perspective of energy consumption inthe typical operating conditions of the system. As an indirect system parameters, power isobtained by the product of pressure and flow in the hydraulic system. The study of powercharacteristics can both examine system pressure and flow characteristics in hydraulicsystem, which solves the problem of traditional research methods, including focusing onlyon pressure characteristic because of the lack of experimental conditions, taking staticparameters as the indicators of systemic match which cannot provide effective support forsystemic match. The article relies on school-enterprise cooperation project "TheComparative Study of Experiment and Simulation to Skid Steer Loader PowerCharacteristic", adopt the three-pronged research method of theory, experiment, simulationto research the power characteristics of skid steer loader travel system. The researchprovides effective support for the systemic match and parameter optimization.Based on the wide-ranging and in-depth literature review, summary the technology status of skid steer loader travel system. Overview home and abroad research status onaspects of travel system research of skid steer loader and hydraulic system powercharacteristics. Analyze existing deficiencies of present research, select powercharacteristics of skid steer loader travel system as the direction of this paper. Determinethe contents of this paper with consideration of conditions the project research platformcan provide.Research the composition of travel system and operational principle of hydraulicsystem of the prototype of skid steer loader. In order to establish the theoretical model forthe travel system of engineering machinery vehicle with pneumatic tires, study thetire-ground load characteristics, ensure tire deformation under specific load anddistribution relationship of vehicle load between wheels. Based on the stress-displacement relationship in tire-ground interaction, establish kinematics, dynamics andcorresponding load-power characteristics theoretical model for travel system in straightdriving and skid-steer conditions on firm surface. Relied on the theoretical model,qualitatively analyze influence of chassis structure parameters of skid steer loader travelsystem to operating performance of the hydraulic system, including gravity, wheelbase,track width, which lays a foundation for the subsequent co-simulation research.Design experimental research programs for skid steer loader travel system. Carry outexperimental studies in typical operating conditions. quantitatively analyze empirical peakvalues of power, pressure, flow and corresponding relationship between the threeparameters of travel system in typical conditions. the experimental study with power as thecore, can break through the limitations of traditional research, including simply focusingon pressure characteristics, taking static parameters as the indicators of systemic match.The results provide more accurate data support to the systemic match.Build the multi-body dynamics simulation model for the prototype and the hydraulicsystem simulation model. Verify the accuracy of the simulation model by comparing thesimulation analysis results and experimental results in typical operating conditions. Relyon multi-physics co-simulation techniques, study the effects of structure parameter ofwalking chassis s acting on the hydraulic system power characteristics, including wheelbase, track width, gravity position. Application of co-simulation technology solvesissue of mutual isolation between the travel system chassis structure research and hydraulicsystem research. With the analysis of simulation results, make clear the impacts of changesof wheelbase, track width, gravity center and other structural parameters on theperformance of skid steer loader travel system. Simulation results verify the theoreticalanalysis, and provide a certain reference value for the selection of chassis structureparameters in systemic design of skid steer loader travel system.
