The axle-counter is a kind of railway transportation safety equipment. It is widely used in railway single track section automatic station block system. Due to the lack of effective maintenance methods, its failure rate is very high in daily use. So in this paper, it will use reliability centered maintenance theory into the JZ1-H axle-counter equipment maintenance. Using failure mode and effect analysis method(FMEA), it can determine reasonable maintenance modes, and improve the poor reliability system by technical methods.The main research contents in this paper are as follows:First, through in-depth study the structure and function of the JZ1-H axle-counter system, build system function block diagram. Using failure mode and effect analysis method, analysis the failure modes. Identify the severity of the failure modes, the occurrence of failure,the failure mode control methods and assessment of detection by expert scoring method. Clear the value of risk priority numbers(RPN),and establish the FMEA analysis table.Then according to the results of FMEA analysis table, use maintenance mode decision based on risk priority numbers. In view of the different risk levels of the failure mode to give the corresponding maintenance methods and preventive measures.At last, according to the higher risk level of failure modes, improve the poor reliability system by technical methods.Base on reliability centered JZ1-H axle-counter equipment maintenance research, it can be extended to other railway signal equipment maintenance. To improve the maintenance efficiency, reduce maintenance costs, develop a reasonable maintenance decision, and maximize the performance of the system has a high reference value.
