City traffic has a direct impact in the process of the modern city development. Nowadays, the traffic jam has become a "common disease", city development was hindered largely. ATC (adaptive traffic control system):used of advanced traffic control theory of rational allocation of various traffic parameters, optimized coordinated control of traffic signal in real time, coordinate the relationship between the city traffic participants, to improve the city traffic condition, is the key part of the intelligent transportation system. In recent years, intelligent traffic control in our country, there are more development, but in the application process, to achieve the effect of many of the city is not obvious even to abandon the use of, the cause, main is not according to the actual traffic rules for the system are reasonable but the improper use of the control system. Aiming at these problems, the following contents were involved in the paper:First, this thesis based on search, collects traffic signal coordination control data, and summarized the development of urban traffic control. At the same time, according to the characteristics of the Urumqi city traffic, elaborated the ATC system design, Including the system equipment and system for data acquisition methods. Second, based on the transport theory and signal control method, trunk road traffic sub area is studied in the basis of signal control, process, control method and optimization method. Last, select the Urumqi ATC system road of along Huang HE road intersection as the research object, Subsidiary area within five main signal intersection control scheme for the coordinated control optimization, and using the VISSIM simulation software, the selection of intersection import way of vehicle travel time and delay value pair of such evaluation indexes as district trunk road were analyzed.Through the new signal coordination control scheme, and with the help of the simulation software, the results show that the new scheme could improve the subdomain road traffic, and the road network capacity has improved.
