Because of its convenient, fast, environmental protection, non-motor vehicles were ably supported by governments. A growing number of people elect to travel by non-motor vehicles. However, non-motor vehicle is a relatively weak group in urban traffic. The whole society pays close attention to how to reduce the rate of traffic accidents of non-motor vehicles, how to improve the safety of non-motorized travel. It is very important to study on the non-motor vehicle traffic safety problem.Bicycle and electric bike are two different kinds of way to travel, they are significantly different in action and safety performance. The literature review suggests that very little has been done on detailed comparison of bicycle and electric bike’s safety. The collision between different models because of unsafe behavior is the main cause of the accident, collision risk perception comparison under different risk scenarios in the previous literature is rarely. Therefore, this paper takes the non-motorized vehicles as the main research object, Ordered Logistic Regression (OLR), Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and Structural Equation Model(SEM) method were used in the analysis of survey responses. The main work of this research are as follows:(1) The distribution of non-motorized vehicle riders’personal attributes, attributes and security attributes were investigated combined with the survey data, then we compared the similarities and differences of those two kinds of vehicles. The results show that the married, full-time, female travelers prefer electric bicycle. Electric bike’s accident rate was higher than bicycle accident. Bicycle and electric bike also exist some differences in the distance, trip purpose, the accident responsible party etc.. So those two models should be treated differently in actual management, use and policy making.(2) The rider’s safety perception of different traffic modes were explored, multivariate logistic regression were used to establish the transportation safety perception model. The results found that the riders with a driver’s license think electric vehicle safer than bicycle which is4.15times the number of riders without a driver’s license. Similarly, they also think driving a car safer than riding a bicycle which is3.16times the number of riders without a driver’s license. The married, man riders, think driving a car and electric vehicles travel safer than bicycle; On the contrary, single, female riders considered bike trip are more secure. Furthermore, age, transportation currently used also has a significant impact on traffic safety perception mode. (3) The differences between collision risk perception under dangerous situations were analyzed, a structural equation model of collision risk perception was established. According to the analysis, collisions with faster vehicles (cars, electric vehicles) have higher risk perception. Collisions caused by their own failure under same situation, will reduce the risk perception. According to the results of structural equation model, behavioral factors or unsafe tendency increase, the perception of collision risk will decline. The perception of collision risk will increase with the promotion of subjective norm.In order to study the non-motor vehicle traffic safety problems, SPSS statistical analysis software were used to analyze the survey data. All kinds of effective suggestions were put forward based on the main conclusions of this research.
