As air pollution becomes more and more serious and people suffer haze weather more and more frequently, the pressure regarding energy saving and emission reduction is booming. In order to improve the quality of atmospheric environment, the State and local government enacts stricter NOx emission standards towards thermal power industry and requires measures for the nitrogen reduction and denitrification upgrade. For sake of matching the new NOx emission standards which is below 100mg/Nm3, JINGLONG power plant has to treat of boiler flue gas by adding flue gas denitration equipments and upgrade relevant facilities accordingly. But these will lead to un-safe and un-stable operation conditions of the induced draft fans which designed for the initiation. So, the upgrade of the fans are pre-requisite.In view of this upgrade, this article proposes two schemes which are increasing the capability of the induced fans separately or integrating induced draft fans and booster fans into one. Through analysis, the later scheme is selected ultimately which is more in line with the safety and economy requirements from the view of the power plant.After the implementation of the later scheme, both two units of JINGLONG power plant are running stably. It eliminated the potential troubles from booster fans starts and stops frequently, simplified the equipment, reduced equipments maintenance and improved the safety and reliability of equipments. Meanwhile, the emission of smoke, dust and NOx from boiler met the environment requirements. Compared with the pre-upgrade, the power of two integrated/upgrade induced draft fans is lower than the total of original two induced draft fans and booster fan about 700KW which is under the condition of increased the resistance of flue, and the efficiency of the induced draft fans is about 87% with moving blade adjustable. The economic benefits is significant.
