Catering industry was release early in our country, after 30 years’ development and market competition under the background of reforming and opening up policy, China’s catering industry has shown a strong development momentum. Under the surging development of catering industry, at the end of last century a unique business model came out, the theme restaurant, which further stimulated the consumption beverage of catering industry. After nearly 20 years’ development, in the process of researching the author found that some theme restaurants are blindly pursuit of alternative design at present; In order to realize a sensational effect, some restaurants take theme as a decoration. In architectural space design of theme restaurant, they have no unique design style, most architectural space design was just imitate, copy, therefore a lot of similar architectural space design style were born. Theme’s embodiment in architectural space is merely deliberate decoration according to theme element, which only realized superficial communication of the theme.Under the background of global economic development, people’s understanding of design has become much clear, design has become a powerful weapon in the competition of catering industry. Therefore, this paper’s purpose is effectively embracing the business model of theme restaurant to design architectural space. In the success of theme restaurants, food, services and design not a single one can be dispensable.Based on investigation and research on theme restaurants, this paper put forward two systems, design system of architectural space and service system of theme restaurant. The main body of architectural space design system is customer, the main body of theme restaurant’s service system is also people, customers as well as service personnel. In the design of theme restaurants, architectural space design should around the restaurant’s business model; Theme restaurant’s service system should compare with architectural space design system and hold for each other. Two systems are developed under condition of customer satisfaction, so as to reflect the value of design, and make a difference in theme restaurant’s business model. Such a design process for theme restaurant, the design of architectural space is limited by various constraints. The architectural space design of theme restaurants only limited by the constraints of its business model and service system can form a unique spatial experience. Research of the architectural space design of this paper is also helpful to improve the knowledge about design in other industries, design only limited by constraints can effectively achieve its purpose.
