Joint locator is a kind of fixture part and widely used in aircraft tooling. In order to guide the design process of new joint locator by using the accumulated design knowledge, case-based reasoning design technology for joint locator of aircraft tooling is studied, and a case-based reasoning design system for joint locator of aircraft tooling is developed according to the requirement of a large aeronautics enterprise. The main jobs of this paper are as following:(1)The cases of joint locator are investigated, and the features information of the joint locator are abstracted. Object-oriented algorithm has been introduced to describe the cases of joint locator. Furthermore, rules of case library designing, organizing and storing are investigated, laying a foundation for the development of the case-based reasoning design system for joint locator of aircraft tooling.(2)Research the basic concepts of the case retrieval, the case-retrieve algorithms which are commonly used and the technology process of the case retrieval. This article confirms the K-NN technology and an improved AHP algorithm as the case similarity calculation method, providing the case-retrieve mechanism for the case-based reasoning design system for joint locator of aircraft tooling.(3)According to the case characteristics of joint locator of aircraft tooling, several revision algorithms are investigated and a new one basing on CBR technology is proposed. This article confirms an evaluation strategy for case-revision which is based on the evaluation of Stiffness and Assembly interference. In order to improve the ability to solve the problem of the case library, a retain strategy for improving the case library’s distribution degree is adopted based on the research of widely used retain strategy.(4)The case-based reasoning design system for joint locator of aircraft tooling is developed based on above researches, and achieves favorable results.
