Hydraulic cylinder is the actuators of hydraulic system,and it can transform the pressure into linear motion’s mechanical energy.Now the standardization degree of the hydraulic cylinder is high and the internal structure is simple. Ifthe parts are carried out database management and automated modeling technic,the speed of design and development for hydraulic cylinder company can be significantly enhanced.This paper mainly studies the basic theoretical knowledge including parametric design,the checking of slim cylinder’s stability,the wear ring’s bearing capacityand the computer aided design. Using three-dimensional design software Solid Works as the development platform, combining with further development principles, Access database technology,automatic 3D modeling with dimension-driven and process-driven, this system achieve automatic modeling and virtual assembly of hydraulic cylinders.This paper describes the selection of Solid Works further development technology and tools, the correlative methodsof Solid Works and Access databasecalled by VB, the method of MATLAB calculation called by VB, the query method of SQL database,to finish parametric feature design and simulation analysis of the hydraulic cylinder.After landing the design system and calculating the main parameter of rod diameter,rod diameter and stroke, the system can generate three-dimensional Solid Works part and assembly models, then carry out interference checking. The stability analysis of the slim-long cylinders, considering the influence of gap and oil gravity, and the carrying capacity of wear rings are calculated by MATLAB software, then return the result. This system reduces large labor intensity and improves design efficiency and automation significantly.A computer-aided design system of hydraulic cylinders was researched, it can achieve the three-dimensional process from automatical modeling to virtual assembly and then to analysis, also calculate the weight of the hydraulic cylinder. With it, hydraulic cylinder companycan improve the design efficiency, reduce labor, and strengthen the competitiveness.
