With the development of computer technology, the technology of computer aided design has already been widely applied to all kinds of fields.Manufacturing industry had adopted CAD/CAM software widely. The application of CAD/CAM technology to manufacturing industry can increase efficiency, Optimize blue print, lessen designer's oppressiveness and shorten project's period. These years, in order to gain more economical benefit, some corporations are going to adopt three-dimensional CAD software after application of two-dimensional CAD technology.The hydraulic cylinder is the most commonly used and typical execution part in the hydraulic pressure system. It can realize the rectilinear motion of the work device by simple structure. If we can design the hydraulic cylinder which accord with user's demand accurately and high-efficient, the development efficiency of the machine will be improved to a certain extent, and then the trade competitiveness of the relative products will be strengthened.In this paper, we use flange connection hydraulic cylinder of engineering mechanism hydraulic cylinder as an example. The content studied includes three parts mainly: Design theory of hydraulic cylinder, Parameterization design system and Study on intelligent design philosophy. In the environment of SolidWorks, using parameterized design technology, further development theory and database technology, the intelligent design of hydraulic cylinder is realized.This paper illuminates the performance and several methods of further development of SolidWorks in detail. Besides, parametric design principle and its key technology are researched in VB6.0 circumstance, parameterized design of three-dimensional parts of hydraulic cylinder have been implemented. The designer only needs to import correspondent parameters to complete parametric design of various parts. And this system improves the level of automation of hydraulic cylinder design greatly.The intelligent computer aided design system of the hydraulic cylinder has been carried on detailed procedure analysis and division of the function module. Merged advanced technology of intelligence engineering, computer aided design, parameter design philosophy and computer aided engineering etc together, the system have been realized intelligent and feedback of mechanical product design procedure. By using of this software, the development efficiency of the hydraulic cylinder can be improved, the development cost can be reduced and the labor of the designer can be decreased a lot.
