As a special power plant, Pumped storage power station is mainly responsible for the peak shaving, valley filling, frequency modulation, phase modulation, accident reservation and other important tasks in the power grid. Its energy saving level is directly related to security, stability and quality of the operation of power grid. Comprehensive energy efficiency is an important index of pumped storage power station. It fundamentally reflects the power station energy saving level. However, existing research results lack systematic and overall analysis about the specific process of energy at work and energy consumption of each link is also unknown. Thus, energy conservation work shoots at a nonexistent target and energy saving work lacks scientific, reasonable and effective guidance.In this paper, the comprehensive energy efficiency of pumped storage power station is calculated and analyzed. The results provide powerful data support for the improvement of comprehensive energy efficiency level of power station. In addition, it puts forward the theoretical guidance for the energy saving work of pumped storage power station.On the basis of status quo of the pumped storage power station in energy efficiency, this paper gives a detailed analysis of the entire energy flow structure of pumped storage power station, from the pumping operation to power operation. The main factors influencing the energy efficiency in pumped storage power station are expounded and the energy consumption models based on the corresponding factors are proposed. Then, in the working conditions of pumping water and electricity, the overall calculation model of pumped storage power station is established based on the energy consumption model of each link in the energy flow. Thereby, quantitative calculation of the energy loss caused by specific factors and the total energy loss of pumped storage power station becomes possible. Meanwhile, the concept of dynamic energy efficiency is put forward and the model of dynamic energy efficiency is established on the basis of peak shaving and valley filling of pumped storage power station. This paper takes a pumped storage power station in the south as a calculation example. Through the analysis and optimization of the height of water, natural water, operation mode and other energy efficiency influence factors, optimization scheme and suggestion of power station to improve energy efficiency level are obtained. The influence factors of pumped storage power station energy efficiency are relatively complex. Only looking in the whole life cycle of pumped storage power station, making scientific and reasonable planning programming, doing high quality construction and high efficiency energy saving operation management, the comprehensive energy efficiency level of power station can be fundamentally improved. Furthermore, it has an important guiding significance in energy saving and emission reduction work.
