With the development of ship industry, cylinder sleeve of diesel marine detected by the traditional contact type after completed has been unable to satisfy the current situation in domestic. Therefore it is time to realize the high precision and efficiency of the cylinder sleeve detection. The important detection index of cylinder sleeve of diesel marine concludes geometric error and external dimensions.In this paper, combined with the current status of on-line detection for large diameter rotary workpieces, the detection system of on-line and non-contact which is intelligent, automatic, quick, convenient and measurement accuracy is researched and developed. Using Microsoft Corp’s VisualBasic.NET to realize programming and acquiring data by high precision laser displacement sensor of Keyence Company and processing data through MATLAB developed by MathWorks makes the online detection system of cylinder sleeve containing sensor, CNC vertical lathe and computer together. This study’s highlights as follows:(1) In view of detection situation of cylinder sleeve for diesel marine in the domestic, according to requirements for cylinder sleeve during the process of the online detection, combining the basic principles of on-line measurement for large diameter rotary workpieces, the overall design scheme about online detection system for cylinder sleeve is proposed, which includes software design and hardware design.(2) Projecting the hardware construction and layout of cylinder sleeve online detection, the sampling scheme for geometric error and external dimension will be achieved through hardware analysis, and the key technology of sensor and its parameters also will be obtained.(3) Providing the fundamental theory of nonlinear programming and citing the classical solution of multidimensional nonlinear constrained optimization, the mathematical model of geometric error for cylinder sleeve is established which is based on multidimensional constrained nonlinear programming algorithm.(4) Adopting VisualBasic.NET to process system development and building up the man-machine interface and subsystems, mix programming will be conducted combining with MATLAB during the process of data.(5) Processing the field test for cylinder sleeve of diesel marine which the diameter is about j500mm and the length about 1800 mm and analyzing calculation results of the online detection and contrasting the precision of nonlinear programming algorithm and least square method and comparing the results from the system with three coordinate measuring machine, the method of error control will be given out after analyzing the source of error.
