A Study On Human-oriented Design Of Campus Outdoor Public Space Of Universities In Tianjin

Human-oriented design is not only a hot topic nowadays but also the inevitable requirement of the development of architecture.The outdoor public space is a crucial part of the campus public space design. Both the function and the meaning of it are worthy to be discussed. As a part which attracts most attention, the outdoor public space has become the core of the whole space of campus and the main carrier of campus life. Therefore, the human-oriented design of public space has always been a key point in the layout planning of campus. It is necessary to study the human-oriented design and development of campus outdoor public space, whether in the theory aspect or in a realistic way.On the basis of study on the related master pieces and research findings on the human-oriented design of university campus outdoor public space at home and abroad, this thesis carries on a case study on the outdoor public space in Tianjin, and then makes an analysis on the design from the aspect of form, color, material, dimension, etc. The thesis also makes a discussion on the main elements of campus outdoor public space such as squares, courtyards, water and so on. All the cases are selected from the universities in Tianjin.In the end, this thesis proposed the strategy of human-oriented design based on the study on the elements and structure of outdoor campus public space, the existing problems, as well as the discussion on the design methods of whole and separated spaces. What’s more, this thesis is intended to be a reference of the future study on campus outdoor public space in the future.
