Wind resource assessment, which is preparatory work for construction of wind farms, is the foundation and guarantee for success construction of wind farms。 Wind resource assessment includes drawing wind atlas of wind measurement point, forecasting of wind speed, wind power density and annual energy production for the proposed wind farm area. With the prediction accuracy of the wind data, the software of China has a certain gap with foreign software; dispersed wind farms has characteristics, such as small-scale, distributed, local consumptive, there is no wind resource assessment methods and software which is suitable for characteristics of dispersed wind farm. the thesis carried out research on the above issues.Firstly, in thesis, the WAsP which the most widely used wind resource assessment software are studied, the wind energy resource assessment parameters and prediction methods are analyzed, then the basic principles of the software, and their main functions are studied in detail and in-depth, then using WAsP, Xiao Changshan Wind Farm’s wind resource are Assessed, to achieve the region’s wind resource maps drawn and annual energy production forecasts. For dispersed wind farm, the paper analyzed the adaptability problems of WAsP, pointed out the deficiencies that using WAsP on wind resource assessment for dispersed wind farm.Then the methods of wind resource assessment for dispersed wind farm are studied. the paper proposed statistical methods of geographic data and wind data which is suitable for dispersed wind farm; Through the study for Weibull curve parameter estimation methods, identified the drawing method of wind atlas for dispersed wind farm; through research for affecting wind’s factors, determined the physical model that used for distributed wind speed forecasting; proposed a wind turbine station positioning method based on double fitness value PSO.Combined of these wind resource assessment methods, dispersed wind farm wind resource assessment software is developed. The dispersed wind farm wind resource assessment software rely on Visual Studio 2010 programming environment and the GIS analysis controls Arc Engine to achieve, the software achieves various functions of wind resource assessment, including dispersed wind farm wind atlas mapping, wind speed distribution mapping, wind power density distribution mapping, annual generation capacity distribution mapping, fan station optimization positioning and other functions. The paper make a contrast between wind power density distribution, the generating capacity distribution with WAsP prediction results, the error is very small, the wind power stations that has a selected range are optimized positioning, these stations’ annual energy production are forecasted and has a satisfactory results.Finally, the paper summarized the work content and prospect the direction of the software improved.
