Study On Chengdu New Rural Community Public Space Planning

"The construction of new rural community" is an important task of building a new socialist countryside, it is an effective way to promote the development of urban and rural, to solve the "Agriculture, rural areas and farmers problems". With the progress of the times and the rural economic development, rural new community construction not only needs to improve the residents’ living environment and living conditions, but also to satisfy the desire of diversified public space and colorful public life in city community. But the current rural new community construction mostly focus on community planning in our country, which only contains the settlements location, architectural styles transformation, roads repair and infrastructures supporting etc. It less analyzes the relationship between villagers’ public demand and public space, lacks protection of the local traditional village culture and space resources, causes the loss of functions of new rural community public space and culture.Chengdu is the national urban and rural comprehensive reform pilot area, whose new rural community construction has achieved remarkable results, but there are still many problems such as unreasonable location, too large scale, single layout etc. Therefore, basing on regional resources and unique environment of Chengdu, how to meet rural residents’ living habits and public demand, to create a sense of belonging and identity of a new rural community is a heavy task that Chengdu new rural community construction has to face now. The dissertation has taken the new rural community of Chengdu as the research object, has analysed the general situation and existing problems of the new rural community public space construction, has summarized the ideas and the methods of the new rural community public space planning basing on Chengdu’ regional characteristics, has provided reference for rural community public space planning of Chengdu even the other city in China.The main research result of this paper is divided into three parts. First of all, through the relevant literature review and data collection, the paper has analysed the main elements of the new rural community public space including the access roads, riverside and community plazas. The layout modes of the new rural community can be divided into three types:"Hub-and-spoke", "Tandem", "Hybrid". The users’ public behaviors of the new rural community public space have the characteristics of regularity, diversity and hysteresis, and different activities and population have different requirements for public space. Secondly, basing on the analysis of the new rural community construction of Chengdu, the paper has summarized four layout modes:large settlement, small settlement, group settlement and aggregate/dispersive settlement, through the investigation of the new rural demonstration community, the author has summed up many issues of the new rural community public space such as the lack of public participation, simple functional layout, improper location, the loss of traditional cultural etc. Finally, according to the relevant theoretical research and present problems, the author has put forward public space planning principles of the new rural community of Chengdu, has summed up a set of methods for public space network building, which base on the survey of space resources and the needs of users, and then has taken Pixian Guangfu village new community in Chengdu as a case study, further verified the research results of universal applicability and scientific rationality.
