Rapid variant design technology usually contributes to improving design efficiency and quality, shortening the development cycle, putting new products on market quickly to promote benefits and competitiveness of enterprises, which results sustainable development and wide application of the technology. So design reuse technique and system integration method for rapid variant design of automatic lid opening and closing device are studied thoroughly and systematically in this thesis.Second development technologies of Pro/E and ADAMS, including development tools and key techniques of them, are analyzed. Not only is Pro/TOOLKIT based on redeveloping Pro/E, but also menus, dialogs and macros are adopted to redevelop ADAMS to implement the rapid variant design of automatic lid opening and closing device.Variant parameters are usually employed to drive variation of template of rapid variant design. Based on analysis of assembly modeling methods, basic principles and approaches are presented that how to create skeletons or layouts alone and how to combine them together in the process of rapid variant design. Furthermore, a basic way of creating parameter passing net is proposed by using variant parameters, skeletons and layouts. Then based on established parameter passing net and parametric methods, the assembly modeling of template of rapid variant design is accomplishedConsidering the design result reuse, the design reuse technique is studied, and thus a flexible coding method based on the coding system of JLBM-1 is presented to encode reusable parts. According to the flexible coding method and database theory, the similarity computation and retrieval algorithm of reusable part are presented, then a reuse library is built. By using the tool of Pro/TOOLKIT, a system of design reuse, including its function modules of entry or out reuse library and management, is developed.In order to improve the efficiency and quality of rapid variant design, this paper puts forward that functions of simulation and optimization are needed to be integrated into the system of rapid variant design. Firstly, the tool of Pro/TOOLKIT is taken to create modules of rapid variant design and optimization, meanwhile, the second development of ADAMS has been applied to designing module of simulation. Secondly, based on functions and properties of the modules, a logic relation of integrated system is designed and an algorithm of interface program is proposed as well. Finally, based on the interface program, the three modules are integrated, realizing integration of system that based on Pro/E and ADAMS.
