Study On Adaptive Renewal Of Public Space In Chengdu Historical And Cultural Towns

The public space of historical and cultural towns is a superposition of society and ideology of every historical periods,it can reflect the cultural essence and social connotation of historical and cultural towns best. However,with the the time goes,it has also become an area with much collisions and contradictions between traditional culture and modern civilization. Aiming at the series of problems that are caused from the public space of historical and cultural towns can’t adapt to the modern needs,this paper makes attempt to introduce the view of adaptation and build a new theoretical knowledge. This knowledge will be applied to analyze Cheng Du’historical and cultural towns,and then the adaptive update planning design methods would be put forward finally. Therefore,this paper is made up of theoretical study, empirical study and method of adaptive renewal summary.In the period of theoretical study,because of the less study of space adaptability and the concept of adaptability is from biologic hoods, this paper is mainly using analogy analysis method,referencing the research findings of biological adaptability,and then exploring the theory of space adaptability. It summarized that people’s behavior and psychological is the determinants of space adaptability,behavior adaptation and metal adaptation is the important content of space adaptability in micro-level. On this basis,the deeper study of space adaptability is judging it. With the characteristics of public space in historical and cultural towns, types of activities,numbers of people and using times are summarized as the judgment of behavior adaptation;knowing, understanding and recognising are summarized as the judgment of mental adaptation. The purpose of judgement is to grasp the root that causes problems,take different measures to improve the ability of traditional space adapting to modern society (Chapter Two and Chapter Three)In the period of empirical study,the theory of space adaptability will be applied to Cheng Du’s historical and cultural towns. Luodai Town,Chengxiang Town and Huaiyuan Town are be chosen to make a deep survey in behavior adaptation and mental adaptation. In the behavior adaptation,it concluses that Community field of Chengxiang is stronger than Word stock square of Luodai, Word stock square of Luodai is stronger than Lam ancestral temple by analysis of observation data. In the mental adaptation,it concluses that Jiangxi Guild Hall of Luodai Town is stronger than Sanqing temple of Chengxiang Town,Sanqing temple of Chengxiang Town is stronger than Lam ancestral temple, By survey, adaptability problems of public space in Chengdu’famous historical and cultural towns are found,and that the root of problems is the changes of physical environment,social environment.cultural environment and economic environment is put forward (Chapter Four)In the period of the method of update of space adaptability summary, aiming at the series of problems that are found in the survey of public space of Chengdu’historical and cultural towns,the adaptive update planning design methods are put forward. In the behavior adaptation,three update methods are put forward to the imbalances between numbers of behavior and space capacity,dislocation between the behavior type and space function,including promoting behaviors happening to delay the decline of space;defibering the numbers of behavior to make the smart growth space come true;disposing the space functions reasonably to meet the demand of different behavior. In the mental adaptation,also three update methods are put forward to improve the space security and belonging,including repairing decay space to reshape the cultural atmosphere;exchanging history function to improve space utilization;paying more attention to the space belonging of new areas (Chapter Five)The theory of space adaptability is less involved in research field. Although adaptability design is applied as a method of designing space widely,the theory is still not enough in-depth. This paper makes attempt to fill the vacancy. Because of the limit of time and level,it just cut into the theory in the micro on the basis of environmental behavior and environmental psychology. More macro level as culture,economy,society,ecology needs further expanded. In addition,the adaptabality of other regionals of cities also need more explored actively.
