Generally, warehouse mainly consists of several parts, i.e., the areas to storage the object, the transfer facilities (e.g., forklifts, ladders, etc.), the transfer pipes and equipment used for entering and out of the storeroom, the protection facilities to ensure the security, the management rooms, etc. While comparing with the traditional warehouses, which usually only achieve the storage function, the modern warehouses always focus more on the economic benefits. Thus, in order to improve the storage ability and work efficiency, the warehouses in enterprise must achieve reasonable layout during the process with object carrying, storage and construction. In addition, the reasonable layout scheme will improve the employee’s workload and the cost of enterprise simultaneously, under the environment with intense enterprise competition.Based on the analysis of the domestic and foreign researches, this paper introduces the relevant concepts and functions of the warehouse, and elaborates the meaning and common methods of the facilities planning. Furthermore, it gives the concrete process of the traditional SLP scheme in the layout of the warehouse operations unit. Then aiming at the specific object, i.e., the warehouse of the Power Corporation in Guangxi, this paper employs the traditional SLP scheme to achieve the global layout of the warehouse operation unit.At the same time, the traditional SLP scheme is found to be heavily affected by the subject factors which results in the phenomenon. Moreover, it needs frequent manual adjustment and modification during the implement phase. Consequently, this paper proposes a new scheme which joints the traditional SLP scheme and the concrete mathematics model to solve the layout problem of the warehouse. This paper employs two indicators, the minimum transportation cost and the maximum close degree of operation unit, to establish a bi-objective optimization problem for solving the storage arrangement problem in the warehouse operations unit. Furthermore, the problem is solved and optimized by using the Genetic Algorithm, and the results which show the superiority of the proposed scheme are compared with the original scheme. At the same time, the proposed scheme is employed by the corporation.
