With digitizing and networking of signal transmission in ICD(intelligent electronic device), association among the virtual terminal devices becomes the main content of intelligent substation secondary design. Currently, the design of virtual links in intelligent substation is labor-intensive, error-prone and less intelligence^ is different between versions of files of the same intelligent electronic device,and a large number of existing designs of virtual links in SCD(Substation Configuration Description)Files has not been effectively utilized. The research of key technologies for intelligent substation virtual terminal design has great engineering significance.Firstly, the content of intelligent substation configuration has been described, the structure and content of related SCL (Substation Configuration Language) documentation has been analysised, the virtual links design concepts and related specifications has been introduced. This part provides a good foundation for software implementation in subsequent chapters.In this paper, the virtual links auxiliary generation method based on the database of historical SCD files is proposed, the point is to extract the association pair to be designed, to search for the association pairs and those virtual links in the database,to screen and find the most similar association pair, to obtain output virtual terminal automatically and generate virtual links and so on. Some key technologies are described, such as The fast parsing of SCD files, the design of database for historical SCD files, search and find the most similar association pair automatically, graphically drag and drop to generate virtual links and so on. In order to assist the virtual links designing of SCD file in intelligent substation, a kind of auxiliary generation system for virtual links has been implemented, the paper gives examples for typical device design, this method can be used to design virtual links for SCD file directly, and effectively reduce the workload of the virtual terminal design, improve the efficiency and accuracy of the virtual terminal design.A comparison scheme for ICD files is designed. Some key technologies are described, such as analysis of ICD document and the data structure construction of ICD file, Cyclic Redundancy Check,comparison of ICD files, synchronous rolling display the compared results and so on. the ICD files comparer has been implemented,it can be used to chek the CRC of each ICD file, to compare the difference between the two ICD files, and to view them in different details.A database management scheme for historical SCD files is designed. Historical SCD database management tools is developed, it realizes the storage and management of a large number of historical SCD file, displaying the basic information of the SCD file, comparing each IEDs of two SCD files in virtual links, displaying the different details of two association pairs, In order to screen and sort out the historical SCD database.
