As a mainstay of national economy, the development of construction industry has always been of concern. But subject to the limitations of the traditional project construction cost management ideas, methods and tools, the construction industry has been struggling to extensive management, high energy consumption and low profit for a long time, even the work efficiency and management level of the construction industry has been influenced.BIM has brought a new technological revolution to the construction industry. The core of BIM is 3D stereoscopic model that integrated various information of construction management. By executing information reform in project organization structure and work flow, BIM bring the huge influence to improve the level of construction management.In order to improve the practical problems in construction and the level of cost control at present, this article used "Application of BIM in cost management of construction" as the direction. Through literature research, qualitative analysis and case studies, the article analyzed the problems which existed in the current cost management of construction project and the reasons why these problems arose. Then through the specific case study of cost management based on BIM, the article made a detailed analysis of the influence of BIM on construction organization and work flow, and the main point, effect, value at each application stage.Through the analysis of examples, the article proved the huge value and advantages of BIM in cost management. Used BIM can help cost managers to treat the construction cost effectually, improving the level of management, enhancing the overall efficiency, thereby enable the construction industry to serve for economic and social development preferably.
