From the overall point of view to consider the issue, the smart grid technology is an inevitable trend, and in this we must design and build a scientific and rational Smart Substation in a prominent position. Which appeared "intellectualization of primary equipment", this technology is very important not to be ignored, it focuses on the improvement of the two components of the original transformer and the circuit breaker, so as to make the whole circuit in high and low voltage independent of the two parts of the object, from the source to the user to bring great convenience. However, this great innovation is not yet mature, has a lot of limitations, after a long period of optimization and improvement, found a new device "intelligent terminal", good communication between the primary equipment and secondary equipment, effectively solve the technical problems related to the interface of related equipment, eventually achieve the "intelligent" of the requirements of the times.Intelligent terminal is an important part of smart grid, this paper starts from the concept and structure of smart grid, analysis of the location of the intelligent terminal and achieve the main features, then it provides a feasible implementation scheme for the hardware design of the intelligent terminal, improve many disadvantages of traditional intelligent terminal. The design scheme based on Zynq7010 Xilinx model FPGA core chip program, using its built-in chip processing core network, serial processing core, USB port processing core, implement basic functions; At the same time by the FPGA control, with a series of functional, achieve such as FLASH read and write, analog input and output function. At the same time code design and simulation for main functions, verify the function to prove its feasibility. Zynq7010 chip contains two ARM cores and a logical processing core, using its high efficient processing capacity to improving the deficiency of traditional intelligent terminal in data processing. At the same time, its own port Gigabit Network Solutions, with PHY and network transformers and other hardware solutions, achieve Gigabit Ethernet transmission scheme using optical fiber as the medium, improve the transmission of traditional copper wire’s low rate, poor anti-interference ability, large transmission medium such defects.
