With the rapid development of Beijing economic construction in recent years, the urbanization level continues rising. Therefore, the road condition that built based on the early planning is hard to meet the current traffic demand. The traffic congestion in Beijing inner city during the morning and evening peak hour is really serious. Especially in the key intersections and key nodes of roads, the traffic jam is more outstanding. Hence, it is important to improve the road congestion intersection and optimize the traffic organization.Traffic congestion is the system problem caused by intersection, sections and the regional road network. Road congestion sections and nodes optimization and modification can be used to relieve the pressure of congestion nodes(section).Considering the long term, the regional traffic jam can be relieved through improving the surface that achieved by continuously changing nodes and lines.Road congestion intersection nodes optimization is mainly based on the methods of information collection and on-site investigation. According to the road network features and traffic demand, the reason of nodes and sections congestion is analyzed, and congestion solving project is deigned reasonable. In this dissertation, regarding to the design of road intersections and sections, the multiple problems of intersection traffic capacity, intersection conflict, intersection traffic organization, intersection timing, under-bridge space utilization, bus station setting up, crossing facilities and traffic supporting facilities will be summarized.At the same time, combining the theory of traffic study, the principle and improvement for road congestion intersection nodes and sections modification are put forward: optimizing road intersection traffic organization- ensure road unobstructed; improving road intersection traffic organization- reduce traffic conflict; building new bus bay and platform- advocate bus priority; completing the pedestrian street and the pedestrians and non-motor vehicles system-highlight the people-oriented; Improving the traffic supporting facilities-improve the efficiency of road; Reconstructing under-bridge space- make full use of existing roads.This dissertation uses the Liuliqiao south reconstruction project as the typical project. From aspect of the increasing traffic capacity, improving the conflict, building bus station and completing traffic supporting facilities, introducing the method traffic congestion modification. Traffic simulation software is used to analyze the traffic characteristics which can be used as practice experience for future similar projects.
