Design Of Small And Medium Sized Cultural Center Based On Old Building Function Conversion

In this thesis, urban society industrial change, urban organic renewal, change the structure and needs of the residents as the research background, proposed the transformation of the old building for small and medium cultural center research, with introducing the concept of building functional conversion and reuse. And focused on researching small and medium sized cultural centers with functional conversion action in different levels of design strategy. Finally summarized the spatial composition, morphology, enclosed interface, internal and external environment and other design methods.The article written from the concept and scale of small and medium cultural center, outlined the causes of old buildings transformed into small and medium cultural center and the important role of urban renewal development, Then described the research purpose and significance of this research, the research object and scope, domestic and foreign research trends and so on. In the second chapter, focuses on the history and current situation of old buildings transformed into small and medium cultural center. The third chapter, proposed the concept and application of building functional conversion, and analyzed the transformation factors affecting functional conversion. Finally summed up in four different transformation modes, including juxtaposition mode, penetration mode, embedded mode, replacement mode. The fourth chapter, further summarized the design principles of small and medium cultural center based on the old building functional conversion. And design strategies are derived in different modes, including combination relations, building morphology, enclosed interface, physical properties, external environment, which discussed in detail. The fifth chapter in the previous chapter as the basis, combined with enumeration and analysis of domestic and foreign typical cases, explored the creative methods of practice.In conclusion, design and practice of exploration for small and medium cultural center in different functional conversion mode, which is an innovative and effective approach to development, promoting reuse of old buildings and the urban organic update. Inspired designers not only to focus on technical means, but also pay attention to context tradition and continuity in the process of transformation,and actively promote the establishment and improvement of self-regulating mechanism of urban functions.
