The transportation corridor plays an important role in the comprehensive transportation system. In order to strive for more passenger market share, all of transportation modes in a transportation corridor rushes to improve their service level. This promotes the formation of passenger transport market competition situation.Under this situation, scientific prediction of corridor passenger transportation share rate will become an important research field, for the sake of promoting ordering transportation corridor passenger market competition and the effective utilization of transport resources. In terms of the passengers in a transportation corridor, travel is for the activities which is for life or living. Activity leads to the production of the travel, and the formation of the activity chain leads to the formation of the formation of the travel chain. Therefore, if order to more reasonably predict the percentage of passenger transport, the theories related activity chain should be introduced to the research about this issue. However, by means of summarizing related research results, this paper discovers that there is quite little research, on the corridor passenger transportation share rate, which combines the activity chain with the users’ selection of a mode of transportation.Under the study background, this paper attempts to study corridor passenger transportation share rate from the perspective of activity chain, and builds a travel-based transportation choice model in a transportation corridor. This paper summarizes and introduces the basic concepts and related theories, and analyzes the most suitable models which are used to study the problems of transportation choice in a transportation corridor. MNL model of the disaggregate models is widely used to research this kind of problem. However, the MNL model is based on the hypothesis that the utility’s random items are independent of each other. This hypothesis could not show that each passengers transportation influences each other and is closed related in the actual transportation system. What’s more, the hypothesis doesn’t take the internal competition of each passenger transportation into consideration.Based on the theory of activity chain, this paper builds a travel-based, multi-class and multi-criteria three-layer NL transportation choice model in a transportation corridor. It not only analyzes the influence of time and cost on the users’ selection of a mode oftransportation, but also analyzes the influence of other factors in the corridor from the perspective of the trip chain. This paper chooses the Beijing-Xi’an transportation corridor as a case to test the model. The results show that the features of time value and user characteristics dominate the probability of mode selection. The effect of the second-order travel in the trip chain is not great but is also worth attention. The model combines travel chain theory with an NL model, which gives it more practical significance.
