The Vehicles Networking is a new technology in the field of vehicles. The terminals on vehicles which can link to the net are frontier products. The Vehicles Networking Terminal of our project can get location of vehicle from the GPS system, get diagnosis from the OBD system. Then it sends the information containing location and diagnosis to the Service Centre by the wireless communication network. The Service Centre analyzes the information and then sends back the mending advices and 4S addresses nearby to the terminal. The location information will lead workers to the breakdown site when necessary. The Centre also provides news and multimedia information. The terminal can show the diagnosis results and navigate for the driver.At first, the basic theories of GPS locating and 3G locating has been researched in this essay. The features of ARM chips and embedded Android OS have been analyzed. The accuracy of different modes of GPS locating has been analyzed. The NMEA 0183 communication protocol and the format of data have been researched. Then the hardware of the terminal has been built, the software of the navigation system has been designed, the Android OS has been embedded in the hardware. A high-performance cortex-A9 four cores processor has been chosen as the master control unit, the SIM908 locating processor has been chosen for the GPS module. The electric circuits of GPS, 3G, voices modules have been designed. The software of the system has been designed with functions of locating in real-time, searching the sites and navigation by voices, etc.At last, the testing of the GPS locating and 3G locating has been done, the testing of the GPS navigation system by simulating in-door and on real-car has been done. The modules can work normally and the system’s functions have fulfilled the design expects.
