There are many historical sites and cultural landscapes in Beijing. The tourism revenue and the number of visitors of Beijing grown steadily and quickly in nearly five years. And, nowadays, more and more people choose the conservancy districts of history and culture as the tourist destinations. It has become a kind of fashion for seeking cultural enjoyment. However, during the peak tourist time, the huge tourist traffic brought not only incomes to the old city, but also a critical challenge to the protection of conservancy districts of history and culture. In this paper, in order to guide the transportation plan reasonably and improve the tourism quality effectively, we explore the characteristic of traffic behaviors based on data analysis and field survey, and then propose the strategy of traffic organization.Specifically, first we analyzed the survey data, then we clustered the travel patterns into two types, i.e. the sightseeing travel and cultural experience travel, in terms of different spots chosen by visitors, finally we analyzed behaviors of tourism traffic in this two patterns. It is worth noting that behaviors of tourism traffic are studied from three aspects, which are visitors‘ personal attributes, travel behaviors and visiting behaviors.By the means of Crosstabs, we screened out the characteristic variables which were significant correlated to travel patterns, i.e. group/individual visiting, travel mode, travel time, visiting mode and visiting time. And we also modeled the tourists‘ choice behavior as a Binary Logit Model. At the end of this paper, according to the analysis results and regarding to the situation of Shichahai, we took entrance crowd density, visiting time and public bicycle utilization as optimization indicators, and then gave the optimizing strategies from entrance traffic dispersion, route optimization and public bicycles management separately.
