A Study Of The Aged Residential Community Based On Co-housing

Cohousing was proposed by Danish architect Steen.A.B.Hoyer in 1964,it argues that the ideal way of living should have a lot of collective social life, public space and design on the balance of both public and private.The elderly cooperative community is a new community based on the concept of Co-housing. The purpose of the community is to encourage the aged people to cooperate, socialise, entertain and enjoy the life, and is to build or redevelop a more suitable community for the aged people.In the 1980 s,the frist elderly community cooperation appeared in Denmark. After years of development, it prevalents in Northern Europe, North America and the Pacific Rim.It eases the aging problem in many countries.The aging problem in China is becoming increasingly serious. Considering many problems about our country’s existing old-age living mode, this paper introduces the concept of Co-housing to improve the existing old-age living mode,inorder to ease the aging problem in our country. Based on the success of the living mode in western countries, and the similarity with the Chinese traditional mode with living in a compact community, The author thinks that it has a certain degree of feasibility.Through literature research, data analysis, combining with practical examples, induction and comparison, this paper comprehensive understands the elderly cooperative community.After comparing the elderly cooperative community with the ordinary community, it summarizes the uniqueness of the elderly cooperative community.According to it, this paper analyse of the physiological characteristics and the psychological needs of the elderly residents, then sums up the five planning and designing principles.The frist, from bottom to top—residents participate in the design and management.The second, neighborhoods building—the planning and design with the core of social contact.The third, sharing cooperation—extensive interaction pattern of life.The fourth, green ecology—The sustainable development road. The fifth,human-oriented—The design of safety and accessibility. On the basis of above research,this paper study specifically the Planning and design method of the elderly cooperative community.The innovation point of this paper lies in the introduction of the elderly cooperative community. As a new settlement mode for the aged, it meets the physiological needs of the elderly; at the same time,it pays more attention on the satisfy of their psychological needs. With the core of social contact, cooperation and sharing, the planning and design of this mode pay more attention to the collective life of old people.It makes them satisfied both physiologically and psychologically.Besides,it gives them a safe, comfortable and pleasant environment to spend the rest of their lives.In the meantime, it reduces their dependence on family and government and alleviates the serious aging problem to a certain extent.
