With the contradiction between the rapid growth of traffic volume and the limited growth of traffic supply has become increasingly prominent, traffic congestion, traffic accidents and environmental pollution caused by traffic problems and other issues have occurred. Especially in the expressway toll station, the "bottleneck" point, queuing congestion problem is more serious, to analyze and solve this problem is very urgent. Thesis establishes the evaluation index system of expressway toll station operating efficiency based on the charging data. It aims to effectively improve the operating efficiency of toll station by evaluation, comparison and analysis. Meanwhile, several methods for improving the capacity of toll station are analyzed and verified. These two aspects can be used to effectively alleviate the queuing congestion problem of toll station.Firstly, the traffic flow operating characteristics of toll station are analyzed. Then various factors affecting the operating efficiency of toll station are comprehensively considered, and summarized as the toll station service ability and the toll station service efficiency two aspects. Meanwhile, the calculation of toll lane capacity is analyzed theoretically.Secondly, the evaluation index system of expressway toll station operating efficiency based on the charging data is established. Then the queuing detection algorithm of toll station and the quantitative calculation method of each index are designed based on the charging data, through studying the vehicles queuing regularities of toll station. And the average service time, average queuing length and average residence time are selected to verify the algorithms. The results show that the absolute error of the average service time is not more than 3s, and the calculation results of the average queuing length and average residence time are also basically consistent. The algorithms are effective.And then the nondimensionalization methods, weight determination methods of the evaluation indexes and the comprehensive evaluation methods are analyzed. Combining the characteristics of the study, an appropriate nondimensionalization standard function is selected. Moreover, a combined weight method combined the AHP method with the entropy weight method is used. And that considering the relative importance of these two kinds of weight methods as 0.5 is more appropriate. Meanwhile the value analysis and evaluation method is selected as the comprehensive evaluation method by analyzing.Finally, thesis selects Sanqiao, Qujiang and Liucunbu toll station which traffic flow is the top ten in October 2015 as the evaluation objects, and carries on the comprehensive evaluation for their operating efficiency. The comprehensive evaluation values are 0.904, 0.7557 and 0.6694. By contrast, the operating efficiency of Sanqiao toll station is the best, followed by Qujiang, Liucunbu is the worst. And the operating efficiency of expressway toll station is divided into high, relatively high, general, relatively low, low five levels. These three toll stations are at a high, relatively high and relatively high level. Moreover, thesis analyzes the ways to improve the capacity of toll station, and carries on the data validation for tandem charging method and ETC way. The results show that these two methods can greatly improve the capacity of toll station.
