In order to extend the service life of roads, it is supposed to optimize design and construction. More importantly, engineers need to grasp the law of deterioration of asphalt pavement to conduct maintenance on later period. According to the characteristics of the climate in Gansu province, asphalt aging prevention and hot central plant recycling of the Tianshui city’s highway were studied in this paper. From study on aging of asphalt mixture, the aging process on highway asphalt pavement were studied. Through in the process of analysis and comparison of the composition and properties in the process of asphalt aging, it can be concluded that with the increase of aging time, the proportions of both asphaltene and resin increase, while the viscosity of asphalt becomes higher and higher. In contrast, saturate and aromatics account for less percentage, while the softening point of asphalt increases a lot. There is a good correlation between laboratory ageing simulation and real road service time.Combining the highway maintenance engineering of Tianshui city, the performances of asphalt mixture (high temperature stability, low temperature crack resistance, water stability) were tested systematically and comprehensive. The change law of performance of hot central plant recycling asphalt mixture was analyzed, and the effect of the asphalt rejuvenation agent was evaluated. Results show that recycled asphalt mixture with certain amount of old mixture could satisfy the requirements of specification. Based on the laboratory test results, a 1-km test road was paved. The controlling technology of construction was summarized through analysis of the test road. The performance of the test road is relatively well through 100-meter rutting and driving quality inspection and evaluation.
