Our company produces lithium batteries, a lot of money has been spent every year for automation equipment. To guarantee the quality of the equipment, equipment R&D and production will be outsourced to a professional company. In the early stage of the outsourcing project, companies need to describe the requirements of the device to device R&D outsourcing company, which can help them accurately understand the business needs for equipment. This paper will focus on how to improve the accuracy of the device R&D outsourcing demand recognition.This article proceeds from the analysis of those failure cases about non-standard automation equipment enterprise R&D outsourcing to identify three main issues among the process. Firstly, because of a shortage of specific organizational team for R&D outsourcing project, cause the inter-departmental miscommunication and inefficiency; Secondly, the analysis of equipment needs which made by the relevant departments of the device R&D outsourcing in a company is not detailed, so the divergence in the function and practicability of the device is caused; Thirdly, without a fixed device R&D outsourcing requirement specification sheet, shirking responsibilities onto others often occurs when there are some problems, and finally damage the interests of the company. In view of the above-mentioned problems, the author has been trying to explore the way about how to solve the existing problems in the company’s internal R&D outsourcing and improve its demand recognition accuracy.This paper is divided into six parts. The introduction part focuses on the background and significance of the study. The second part is to identify the existing problems of the enterprises in the R&D outsourcing. The third part is to take a cell sorting device R&D outsourcing for example, build an organization team and assign responsibilities to each member of the team. The fourth part is to identify and assess the needs for the new equipment R&D outsourcing by the team members. The fifth part is to produce a written form of R&D outsourcing demand identification manual about the battery sorting equipment. The last part is the summary of the paper.
