A Comparative Study Of Chinese And American Think Tanks

Chinese think tank sprouted since the founding of new China.At the time of the new China is strongly influenced by the formerSoviet Union. The development pattern of Think tank was modeledon the" Soviet model". Although after reform and opening up,with the constant improvement of China’s market economy systemand the advancement of democratization, Chinese think tankshave become an indispensable force in policy making process inour country. Their development trend is also very fast. Butcompared with the United States, they are still slightly weak.This paper mainly adopts the ways and means of theoreticalanalysis, regulation analysis, history analyzing, comparisonanalyzing, and literature analysis, trying hard to overallgrasp the defects existing in the development process ofChinese think tanks. Based on the experience of the Americanthink tank operation mode, try to find suitable for Chinesethink tank development path. This paper is divided into sixparts. The first part explains the related concepts andtheories of think tank and think tank model; the second partcompares and analyzes the system structure of the think tankof China and the United States; the third part compares therelationship between think tanks and the government of Chinaand the United States. The fourth part compares and analyzesthe system environment of survival of the think tanks of Chinaand the United States from the three aspects of political system,personnel system, and information system. The fifth partcompares three aspects of the decision status, decision qualityand the way to influent decision-making between Chinese andAmerican think tanks, and explains the reasons for thedifference between Chinese and American think tanks influenceon decision-making. Through the first few parts of the think tank model comparative study of China and the United States,the last part of this paper put forward that it is necessaryfor China’s think tank adhere to their own development path.Not only the government must take appropriate action, the thinktanks themselves need continuous improvement and development.This paper tries to seek the deep reasons of think tanks’development relatively lagging. Draw on the successfulexperience of the development of American think tanks, So asto promote the Chinese think tank to mature. Improve thegovernment decision-making consultation system and thescientific and democratic decision-making level.
