Research On The Influence Of Environmental Regulation On Enterprise Performance

In recent years, as the worsening of environmental problem, ecological low carbon economy, beautiful China construction has become the focus of hot spots, local governments have strengthened environmental regulation to solve the problem of environmental pollution, most enterprises also adopted different strategies accordingly. Based on this kind of situation, the problem of what is the effect of environmental regulation to the enterprise the overall performance caused the extensive research of scholars both at home and abroad naturally. On the one hand, the implementation of the environmental regulation policy increased the production cost on the pollution control, it is a direct impact on the economic performance of the enterprise. Environmental regulation, on the other hand, can promote the technological innovation effectively, improve the operational efficiency of enterprises and compensate the negative impact of the initial cost, develop the overall performance finally. Further validation and correct understanding on the problem of the relationship between environmental regulation and enterprise performance, not only has important significance to improve the comprehensive competitiveness of enterprises in our country, and plays a key role to realize the sustainable development of our society and economy.Firstly, this paper introduces the concept and types of environmental regulation, the development of the enterprise performance evaluation and the characteristic of the balanced score card in theory, summarizes the relationship between environmental regulation and corporate performance in the literature at home and abroad. Then based on the classification of environmental regulation and the understanding of the porter hypothesis, sets up three basic assumptions, puts forward child hypothesis further using four dimensions of finance, customer, internal business processes and learning and growth in the balanced score card. In the empirical part, this paper takes the 186 polluting enterprises as the research sample, designs the scale of environmental regulation and corporate performance, verifies the effects of command control environmental regulation, market incentive environmental regulation and voluntary environmental regulation on business performance using SPSS 19.0 software.The result of research shows that the impact of command control environmental regulation on polluting enterprise financial performance, customer, internal business processes, and learning and growth were not significant, the market incentives and voluntary environmental regulation have significant positive influence on polluting enterprise performance of financial, customer, internal business processes and learning and growth. Therefore the article thinks effective combination of different regulation tools and the innovation of incentive, voluntary regulation tools is the key to realize win-win of environmental regulation and economic performance. At the same time, this paper puts forward the corresponding policy recommendations from the state, social public and enterprise level respectively, and provides a certain reference in order to improve scientific and effectiveness of our country’s environmental regulation policy implementation.
