In order to provide the theory basis for choosing a suitable planting base of Salviamiltiorrhiza Bge.,ensure the quality,satety and effect of medicinal materials,we set6test basesin different ecoregions(Dali, Taibai, Ankang, Zizhou and Yangling)and the traditionalgenuine producing areas Shangluo in Shaanxi province. This study used field trials whicharranged in these different ecoregions, through measuring and estimating its morphologicalmeasurements and yield, the quantitative determination of3active principles, Salvianic acidA, Salvianolic acid B and tanshinone IIA, was carried out by using HPLC. We also found therelationship between the active ingredients of Salvia miltiorrhiza Bge. and the edaphic factorsby studing on the soil in these ecoregions. The main conclusions were as follows:1. In terms of the yield and active ingredients of Salvia miltiorrhiza Bge. in differentecoregions of Shaanxi province,the growth status of Salvia miltiorrhiza Bge. grown inAnkang which located around Qinba mountainous was better than the others. The plant heightof Salvia miltiorrhiza Bge. grown in Ankang area was41.67cm, the lenght of roots was31.00cm, the number of lateral roots was15.67, the yield (dry weight) reached275.67kg/667m2.The content of active principles were higher in Salvia miltiorrhiza Bge. from the Ankang areathan the other areas including Dali, Taibai, Zizhou and Yangling. Ankang, a city by theYangtze river basin in the southeast of Shaanxi province. The city enjoys a subtropical humidmonsoon climate with four different seasons, plenty of sunshine, good rainfall and longfrost-free period which has a suitable climate conditions for the plant growing.It also hasporous fertile soils. So the Salvia miltiorrhiza Bge grown in Ankang test base is better thanothers.2. In terms of the relationship between the active ingredients of Salvia miltiorrhiza Bge.and the edaphic factors, we found a positive correlation between the salvia miltiorrhizafat-soluble ingredients and the pH and rapidly available potassium, also a negative correlationbetween the salvia miltiorrhiza fat-soluble ingredients and available nitrogen and rapidavailable phosphorus.It has some relationship between the salvia miltiorrhiza water-solubleingredients and the edaphic factors either.Based on the results of Salvia miltiorrhiza Bge. yield and the content of active principles,we could draw the conclusion that Ankang area which located around Qinba mountainous was more suitable for growing Salvia miltiorrhiza Bge..
