Monitor Of Fruit Flies Of Tephritidae In Fruit Export Production Bases In Shaanxi

Shaanxi province is an important temperate fruit production area, the largest areas ofapple and kiwi fruit cultivation in China, and South Shaanxi is a superior citrus productionarea. As fresh fruit export occupies important position, pesticide residue and plant quarantineare problems that we cannot turn around, which limit us to advance into the European andAmerican markets.Tephritidae is a large Family with in Diptera, most of which are international quarantinespecies, including the oriental fruit fly, Bactrocera dorsalis, and the Mediterranean fruit fly,Ceratitis capitata. South China fruit production areas are suffered with oriental fruit flies,melon flies and pumpkin flies severely. Fruit production areas of Shaanxi were confrontedwith more serious damage along with more frequent fruit trades and warmer climate.Therefore, it’s quite necessary to investigate the species of Tephritidae fruit flies in theprimary fruit product areas of Shaanxi and make sure whether these fruit flies exist there.In order to make clear of the species and current distribution of Tephritidae fruit flies insuch regions, some places were chosen to monitor the quantities and dynamics of these pestswith the utilization of Methyl Eugenol, the oriental fruit fly sex-lure, Cue-lure, the melon flysex-lure, Trimedlure, the Mediterranean fruit fly lure, and protein-lure. These results wereaccomplished:(1) Four Tephritidae species, i.e., B.manix, B. tau, B. scutelltat, and Dacustrimacula, were distributed in Shaanxi.(2) B. Minax were trapped in citrus belts of SouthShaanxi with a rich population and severe damage.(3) B. scutelltat and Dacus trimacula werequite common in Shaanxi with the largest populations but without much damage.
