Chinese fir is an important timber tree in southern China, which is widely distributed and hasa long history. On the one hand, research on variations within tracheid traits of different Chinesefir clones in order to provide basic theory and guidance for directional developing and woodprocessing of Chinese fir. On the other hand, research on vegetative propagation techniques ofChinese Fir Clones, including container cutting propagation and tissue culture two aspects, inorder to shorten the planting time of Chinese fir. The main results were as follows:1. The length of wood tracheid changed from750μm to6000μm. The width of wood tracheiddistributed between10μm to85μm. The ratio of tracheid wall to lumen changed from0.09to1.80. Besides, there were significant differences in the ratio of tracheid wall to limen of theChinese fir which collected from8provenances. It reached a maximum of0.57in Tianzhuprovenance and the minimum was0.25in Huitong provenance. The differences between thelength of wood tracheid was not significant, so was the width of wood tracheid. Thedifferences of tracheid traits between186different Chinese Fir Clones were significant.2. The results showed that the best cutting medium was peat: perlite: vermiculite=1:1:1, whichthe rooting rate reach92.7%. In this medium, the average root number of Chinese fir was5.96and average of the longest root length reached14.76cm. Besides, the rooting rate of cuttingsreduced under long time processing in1g/L ABT solution. In each treatment, cuttingsprocessing30min in0.05g/L ABT solution was best and the rooting rate was92.96%.3. After immersed in75%alcohol for40s, and sterilized in0.1%HgCl2for6min, the explantswere washed cleanly with sterile water and treated in0.1%HgCl2for6min again. By thismethod, divided0.1%HgCl212min into two periods can reduce the toxicity to explants.MS+6-BA0.9mg·L-1+IBA0.3mg·L-1was the most appropriate ratio of adventitious budsinduction. Blue light and green light had a proactive effect on adventitious buds induction intissue culture of Chinese fir.
