To study the effects of dietary L-Arg supplementation in weaned pigs.270 crossbred piglets weighted 6.31 kg were divided into 5 groups. Group A was control group, treated with basal diet+2.05%, group B, C, D and E were experimental groups, treated with basal diet+0.5%,1.0%,1.5%,2.0%L-Arg respectively. The experiment lasted for 7 d. The effects of Arg on growth performance, diarrhea rate, serum biochemical indices and hormone levels, and morphological structure of weaned piglets were detemined. The results showed that:(l)Compared to group A, the ADFI in group C, D and E were greater significantly (P<0.05), the F/G in group C, D and E were decreased significantly (P <0.05), while the ADG in group D and E were improved significantly (P<0.05).(2)Compared to group A, the diarrhea ratio in the 4 experimental groups were greater by 39.57%(P<0.05),63.73%(P<0.05),77.54%(P<0.05) and 55.97%(P< 0.05) respectively.(3)The serum LDL level and activity of LDH, GOT in group A were higher than that in experimental groups. The serum contents of TP, ALB and the activity of ALP in 4 experimental groups were greater than that in group A, but the significant difference were not be observed (P>0.05).(4)The serum Cor level in 4 experimental groups were higher than that in group A significantly (P<0.05). The levels of GLU, T4 and Ins in experimental groups were higher than that in group A, but the significant difference were not be observed (P> 0.05).(5)The villus height of jejunum anterior segment in group C and D were greater than that in group A by 21.30%(P<0.05) and 25.03%(P<0.05) respectively. The crypt depth, villus height/crypt depth and the lymphocyte number in the 4 experimental groups were impoved in some extent.(6)The villus height of jejunum posterior segment in experimental groups was improved in some extent. The crypt depth and villus height/crypt depth of jejunum posterior segment in group C and D were greater than that in group A by 19.86%(P< 0.05),21.86%(P<0.05) and 27.43%(P<0.05),33.63%(P<0.05) respectively. The differences of goblet cell and lymphocyte number among the 5 groups was not significant.(7)The crypt depth and villus height/crypt depth of ileum in group C and D were greater than that in group A by 30.36%(P<0.05),32.80%(P<0.05) and 62.50%(P <0.05),71.59%(P<0.05). The lymphocyte number in group C and D were greater than that in group A by 14.95%(P<0.05) and 26.00%(P<0.05) respectively. In summary, L-ariginine supplemented in diets can alleviate the weaning stress of piglets effectively, decrease the intestinal tract damage caused by weaning, and improve the immunity and growth performance of weaned piglets in some extent.
