Background and ObjectiveThe septal nasal perforation or septal defect remains a great chanllenge for the plastic surgeons.The reasons of septal nasal perforations are neoplasms、infections、injurie、 chronic rhinitis、allergy、sarcoidosis、tuberculosis and complications after endoscopic and septal nasal operations. In the study,the nasal septal defectsare surgically created in the rabbits. BMSCs are seeded ontoPHBVto form a cell-scaffold construct, then implanted into nasal cartilage defects. The regenerate cartilage is scored histologically will be tested to provide experimental evidence for the successful application of the technology.Methods36 Rabbits were made models of nasal septal cartilage defect.36 rabbits were separated to 6 group depend on the repair materials and repair time with 6 in each group. The experimental group:implant BMSCs-PHBV complex; the control group: only implant PHBV; and the blank group:with nothing.The specimen collect after implant BMSCs-PHBV into nasal septal cartilage defect 16 weeks (group 1) and 24 weeks (group2),the gross observations、the HE and immunohistochemistry staining were made.ResultsThe defects were repaired by the hylike cartilage tissue in the experimental group; and the defects were repaired by the thinner cartilage tissue than normal onein the control group; andthe defects were repaired by the fibrous tissues in the blank group.ConclusionsBMSCs-PHBV complex could repair defects of nasal septal cartilage effectively.
