TYPHONII RHIZOMA origing from the dry tuber of Fyphonium giganteum Engl., have the effects of dispelling pathogenic wind and eliminating phlegm, anti shock convulsion, removing toxic and resolving hard mass, relieving pain. Using for symptomatic epilepsy, tetanus, partial headache, snake bites. It is one of the commonly used toxicity Chinese medicines, clinical used the processed material. For years, a lot of study on the toxicology, pharmacodynamics, chemical composition of Rhizome typhonii, but the toxic substance and the mechanism is unclearly and controversial, resulted in indefinite positioning of the clinical potencyand imperfect quality evaluation standard in Ch.P(2010).Firstly, five chemical components were selected by the early literature research include saponins, alkaloid, nucleoside, polysaccharide, and flavones. Methods for the determination on the quantitation of the components in TYPHONII RHIZOMA were established. In order to explore the processing and boiling effects on quality of TYPHONII RHIZOMA, the paired t-test was used to compared analysis of the components content before and after processing.Secondly, a statistical analysis was used, which was based on Grey Incidence Degree numerical methods of Grey Theory, to combine the quantitation of the components in TYPHONII RHIZOMA and the efficacy experiment on lab mice to find out the finest markers for the quality evaluation of the traditional Chinese medicine, TYPHONII RHIZOMA.In the end, a quality evaluation method of the traditional Chinese medicine, TYPHONII RHIZOMA was established. Qualitation evolution in TYPHONII RHIZOMA were studied.In this work, the results of paired t-tests show that there is significantly different between the crude and the processed. Except of polysaccharide, the content of other four components in the products were significantly reduced compared with the crude. the content of the five kinds component are in large difference among different batches and the variation was unregularly. Grey Incidence Degree numerical methods of Grey Theory applying the complex content data fitting out the corresponding curve to clarify the variation. By Grey Incidence Degree numerical methods of Grey Theory, the closely related components of efficacy were found. The best component for the spontaneous activity in 60 min of lab mice are alkaloids, for sleep time test are nucleoside and for anti convulsion latency was flavonoids. By this work, alkaloids, nucleoside, flavones were provided for quality evaluation as indexs. According to the three indices, the five batches processed TYPHONII RHIZOMA were evaluated. The degree between the five batches is Z1>Z4>Z3>Z2>Z5.
