A Reflective Research Report On The Translation Of Suspicion Island

This is a translation research report based on the translation of the prologue andthe first four chapters of Suspicion Island, Suspicion Island is a novella written by theCanadian children’s literature writer Jeni Mayer. It is the third one of her mysteriousnovels. Owing to its rich storyline and profound pedagogical meaning, it is verypopular. The author has translated the prologue and the first four chapters andproduced this reflective research report.This report concludes the characters and language features of Children’sLiterature according to the reflective research of the translation and strove to find outthe problems and difficulties in the translation of Children’s Literature. Throughapplying some certain translation theories and strategies, the translator tries to solvetranslation problems and consequently deepen understanding of the source text. Forexample, the translator tried to discuss the principles the translator should follow inthe translation process from the point of reception aesthetics and functionaltranslation theory which were respectively issued by Hans Robert Jauss andKatharina Reiss. The translator translated Suspicion Island trying to stand on the sideof the writer and the children readers to reappear the content, characters and artisticconception of the novel, to make Chinese readers know about western cultures,expand horizons and promote cross-cultural communication.
