Due to economic globalization, more and more foreign literatures have been introduced into Chinesemarket in recent years, including popular science books. Numerous Chinese versions have been released,but the overall quality of these translations is yet to be improved. In addition, researches on the translationof this type of literature are also rarely seen, which indicates that the translation of popular science bookshas not received enough attention.The author translates the first two chapters of Tell Me Where, a popular science book for childrenwritten by Ne Ukazan, under the guidance of her supervisor. This translation report is based on this part ofthe translation project, i.e., the translation of the whole book. The report consists of sevenparts introduction, description of the translation task, pre-translation preparation, translation process, caseanalysis, reflection and conclusion. The purpose of this report is to preliminarily extend research intocharacteristics of the source text and explore translation strategies for the selected text with the help ofFunctional Equivalence Theory, which is proposed by the American translator Eugene Nida. In general, theauthor analyzes features and strategies of the translation of the source text at the lexical level, syntacticallevel and cultural level by a number of examples in case analysis. It is expected that this report will providereference for the translation of popular science books for children.
