A Report On The Consecutive Interpreting For The Myanmar Promotion Conference2013at10^th China-ASEAN Expo

China-ASEAN Expo has become an important communication platform between China and ASEAN countries,and the promotion conferences held during the CAEXPO extend the exchanges to wider fields.Consecutive interpreting is used in most of the promotion conferences during the CAEXPO. Due to the high rank of the honored guests, the large number of participants and high international standard, it is particularly essential to ensure the quality of interpretation in the promotion conferences.In addition, the promotion conferences,featuring with professional and commercial characteristics,pose higher demands on the interpreter. Besides, the performance of the interpreter in the promotion conference demonstrates his/her comprehensive qualities in interpreting.At the request of Guangxi International Expo Affairs Bureau and Foreign Languages College of Guangxi University, the author completed the Chinese-English and English-Chinese consecutive interpreting for the Myanmar Promotion Conference2013at10th China-ASEAN Expo as the assistant interpreter. The author participated in all the parts of the task under the guidance of supervisor, including the preparation of interpreting, on-the-spot interpretation and self-examination after the interpreting.The author gained practical experience, practiced the professional skills and also found the deficiencies.In the report, the author has a tentative discussion and proposes personal viewpoints on preparation of interpretation, Q&A interpreting strategies,teamwork in interpretation activities and coping tactics with Gile’s "Effort Model."...
