Nowadays, society has entered into the era of reading images, and online imagenews has been an essential way to report the news. The website of Huanqiu(http://www.huanqiu.com/) has its own online image news channel. Its trans-editednews reaches up to300every day, in which online image news accounts for11%. Thedata show that the workload of online image news trans-editing is laborious. Throughthe practice at Huanqiu, the author finds that the news industry has not known theexpectancy norms clearly, so the trans-edited online image news is unreadable. As aresult, the trans-edited online image news usually dissatisfies readers. This study aimsto propose three norms from government, media and readers for online image newstrans-editing. The satisfaction survey on trans-edited online image news is conductedto conclude errors in trans-edited online image news and readers’ expectations. Thecomparative analysis on news portal websites and comprehensive portal websites laysa foundation for studying media’s expectations. In addition, several samples areadopted to analyze the application of the three norms to trans-editing. Based on thestudy, three expectancy norms and several trans-editing strategies are put forward toimprove the quality of online image news trans-editing.
