| In the modern times of globalization,connections between countries become increasingly close.News,as a carrier of information,plays an important role in publicity and international communication.Therefore,English news websites,such as the English website of Xinhua News agency and China Daily,have become important platforms for promoting China.News trans-editing is a vital part of engaging in international communication.In recent years,there are many researchers who have a background in translation or media studying this interdisciplinary activity.However,the English news quality and publicity effect of government,media institutions and companies still need improving,especially that of local institutions and companies.Therefore,it is necessary to study what are common problems that trans-editors may encounter and how to solve these problems by analyzing cases.The author has a three-month internship at Newsgd.com of Nanfang Media Group from July 9th,2018 to October 9th.During the internship,the author's main tasks were to do news trans-editing,interview and news writing.This report covers the overview of“trans-editing”and Newsgd.com and detailed introduction of the author's trans-editing content and process.Based on the analysis of example texts,this report introduces several commonly-used trans-editing techniques,including addition,deletion and restructuring.The rewriting theory is also used in case study to analyze how powers,such as“ideology”,“patronage”and“poetics”influence news trans-editing by controlling“professionals”.The author made a summary and reflection of her internship at Newsgd.com.The summary and reflection include the difficulties that the author encountered in the internship and the author's merits and demerits in her practice,such as unfamiliarity of news words and insufficient political sensitivity.Some suggestions to improve self-abilities are given based on this experience.The author hopes that her experiences and suggestions can offer useful information to other MTI students and trans-editors. |
