At the end of the year2012, UNESCO published the report Global Survey on Internet Privacy and Freedom of Expression, Chapter I and Chapter II of which are brief introductions of the contradiction between internet privacy and freedom of expression, and the opportunities and challenges faced by privacy protection in the era of Internet. These two chapters are covered in the author’s translation practice with the guidance of functional equivalence. As a translation report, this thesis emphasizes the importance of preparation before translation by the review of translation process and illustrates the feasibility of functional equivalence in report translation. The author analyzes the functional equivalence between the source text and the target text from the aspects of words, sentences, article and style in this translation report through specific examples with the applying of different translation skills. Two aims are expected to achieve through this translation practice. On one side, it is to help people realize more clearly the importance of internet privacy protection; on the other side, it is to promote the institution of relative laws, thus our privacy protection will be strengthened.
