| This paper is an E-C translation practice report. The English source texts areChapter4: Sharing Medical Information: Antidote or Bitter Pill? and Chapter7:Balancing Freedom of Information and the Protection of Privacy chosen from the book-Controlling Knowledge: Freedom of Information and Privacy Protection in aNetworked World written by Lorna Stefanick. The4th chapter has a targeted discussionon the sensitive medical information sharing, especially studies the advantages anddisadvantages of electronic health records and the secondary use of medical information.Chapter7summarizes the viewpoints of the full text, and underscores the importance offreedom of information and protection of privacy to social relationships. As a “citizens’guide”, this book has great theoretical significance and reference value to China’scurrent problems of freedom of information and privacy protection.This report consists of four parts. The first part is description of translation task,including background and nature of the task and requirements of the client. The secondpart is description of the translation process, including the preparation, process oftranslation and issues after translation. The third part is case analysis in translation,including the types of problems arising in the translation practice, the theoreticalthinking on these problems and the process of solving them. The fourth part is thesummary of the translation practice, including the unresolved problems in thetranslation practice and relevant thinking as well as the elicitation and prospects forfuture study and work.The research method adopted in this report is the Skopos theory of Germanfunctional school. Combining the problems arising in the practice, the paper analyzesthe use of four translation methods-liberal translation, transference translation,conversion translation, and division and combination. The author sincerely hopes thatthe paper can provide some referential suggestions for those engaged in the relatedtranslation fields. |
