A Study On The Competence And Training Suggestions Of The International Chinese Teacher Volunteers In Thailand

Teachers are the people who impart knowledge and experience, who choose andprocess teaching content and material, who lead, organize and implement the teachingactivities. In the whole education activity process, teachers play a crucial role. Recently,with the emergence of “Mandarin fever” and the booming development of the Chineseinternational promotion, there is a growing demand for Chinese teacher. In order tomeet overseas’ demand for Chinese teacher, and promote the Chinese promotion,Chinese Teacher Volunteers Project by Hanban China is rising. International Chineseteacher volunteers represent the image of China, and are responsible for spreading ofthe Chinese and its culture. Thus the study of Chinese teacher volunteers is increasinglycapturing people’s attention.This thesis selects Thailand, which is one of the best countries in Chinese overseaspromotion. Combining with the author’s work experience in Thailand, the thesis carriedout a textual analysis and research on the current Chinese promotion in Thailand.Meantime, the thesis carried out another textual analysis and research on part of thecontent of “the Chinese Teacher Volunteers Manual” published by Hanban China. Then,based on the result of the textual analysis, a questionnaire had been made for theChinese teacher volunteers in the twelve Thai Confucius institute in2013. A systematicinvestigation, which aimed at discussing the competency of Chinese teacher volunteersto Thailand, had been made from the perspective of overseas users and Chinese teachervolunteers themselves. Finally, based on the results of the thesis’s research, somesuggestions are put forward for Thai Chinese teacher volunteers’ self-improvement andHanban China’s training. The author hopes that it will be helpful to improve thecompetency of Chinese teacher volunteers to Thailand and later researchers’ study in therelated fields.
