This is a translation report on Chapter I What Shall We Do? of Mothers of Invention:Women of the Slaveholding South in the American Civil War. The author of this book isCatharine Drew Cilpin Faust, who is an American historian and was the president ofHarvard University. The writing setting of this book is the American Civil War, and theauthor Drew Faust, using strict and objective language, reveals the inner life ofSouthern women during the American Civil War. Although there are a lot of worksrelated to the American Civil War history research, books that focus on the research ofSouthern women in Civil War are few and far between. Therefore, for Americanhistorians, this book is an excellent work that cannot be missed.
