| As father’s images have rich cultural connotation,they become an importantnarrative object in literary works.In Orhan Pamuk’s novels,he also shaped differenttypical father’s images. These father’s images as followers of their own culture, onthe one hand, Pamuk’s novels always reflect the social environment changes andpsychological changes in contemporary Turkey. On the other hand,as Pamuk hasdual education background,the Turkish culture and the European cultureeducation.He is also used to infuse his thinking on the culture into the novelcreation.The distinctive father’s images in Pamuk’s novels,who can’t completelyproduce identity,no matter in face of the traditional civilization or the westernmodern civilization,as they live in the cultural blend background and historicalcondition.Due to the two kinds of civilization, these father’s images have a uniquedual angle of view, which bring them the long-term confusion, anxiety andpain.Through the analyse of Pamuk’s novels,the hybridity of father’s images can befound.Athough they hesitate in anxiety, opposition and conflict,they don’t give up onthe pursuit of themselves. They are the mixture of times, the political consciousness,participation of family ethics,showing the multiple characteristics, representing thevalue orientation of ordinary turks and self-image under their respective timebackground.Their exploring roads are both individually and nationally, which is theexploring road of Turkish national culture to some extent.By analysing father’simages in Pamuk’s four novels, we can sense the Turkey in turbulent historicalperiod of the living circumstances with conflict and mental suffering,we can alsodeeply understanding the cultural theme of Pamuk’s novels.These enlightenmentshave important significance under the background of the globalization. |
