A Study On The Translation Strategies Of The Report On The Work Of Government In The Light Of Skopos Theory-by The Case Of The Rwg Of Xi’an

This thesis aims at the research of the translation of the Report on the Work of theGovernment under the guide of the Skopos theory, namely “the ends justify thetranslation”. According to the theory, the principles and the strategies employed in thetranslation and depend on the purpose of the translation.The thesis starts with a feature analysis of the Report on the Work of theGovernment of Xi’an and an analysis of the features in the light of the Skopos theory,providing principles and reference for the translation.The main body of the thesis is the research of the translation of RWG of Xi’an onlevels of words&phrases, sentences and paragraphs. Based on the previous analysis,the principles are accuracy and target-reader orientedness and the strategies employedto serve the two purposes of information and publicity are omission, combination anddivision with the reference of the State of the Union Address.
