A Report On Translation Of TCM Essays

Traditional Chinese Medicine is an invaluable treasure of Chinese culture, if the related theses of Traditional Chinese Medicine are translated into English, they will benefit the worldwide promotion of TCM as well as cultural communion between China and the west. The related translation work is beset with difficulties, because there are cultural gap and divergences between Traditional Chinese and Western medicine. Generally speaking, the foreigners tend to read the foreign translators’work rather than that of Chinese translators, thought obviously the Chinese translators’versions are more original and authoritative. That phenomenon makes it clear that trans-editing should be concerned while doing such translation to bridge the two cultures, which can help the target readers have a better understanding of what the read. Only in this, the globalization of TCM could be faster and smoother. In the thesis, the author has a study on the case of About Liuwei Dihuang Pill, and figures out some most common problems in the TCM translation project, then trough the case study; some related solutions would be given. Through the process of case analysis, it point out the use and translation skill, such as transliteration, literal translation and free translation. It will be great honor if this thesis would help the later related translation.
